College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University Nevada Partners with Henderson Fire Department for Specialized Cardiac Training, July 25

LAS VEGAS, NEV (July 25, 2024) – On July 25, medical students from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University Nevada partnered with City of Henderson Fire Department EMS personnel for an exclusive Interprofessional Education event at Touro’s Michael Tang Regional Center for Clinical Simulation.

City of Henderson Fire Department personnel participated in the training by transporting Touro’s high-fidelity manikins as patients experiencing extreme cardiac duress in a number of mock scenarios to emulate real life situations with cardiac patients.

Touro medical students received life-saving cardiac and critical care training from Touro faculty and licensed providers, assisted by City of Henderson Fire Department EMS staff.

Touro University Nevada’s Michael Tang Regional Center for Clinical Simulation is one of only two accredited simulation centers in the state of Nevada to receive provisional accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. The Center is widely used by first responder organizations given its size, high tech capabilities and cutting-edge simulation tools that allow for real-life scenario training to improve medical outcomes.
