Communities In Schools of Nevada Announces Annual Today for Tomorrow Event at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, October 19

WHAT: Communities In Schools of Nevada (CIS of Nevada), part of the nation’s leading evidence-based stay-in-school organization, announces the return of its 14^th annual fundraiser, Today for Tomorrow. This much anticipated “ungala” event is made possible thanks to presenting sponsors, playSTUDIOS, and The Elaine P. Wynn & Family Foundation. The event will take place at Fontainebleau Las Vegas on October 19, CIS of Nevada’s official 20^th anniversary date.

Join them to raise a toast and celebrate the organization’s vision to change the trajectory for more students facing adverse circumstances. The event’s fun and unique wedding theme, chosen in collaboration with honorees, Dawn and Christopher Hume, who are celebrating their commitment in concert with CIS of Nevada’s 20^th anniversary, encourages guests to come dressed as wedding guests, participants in a bridal party, or for the more daring, dressed in wedding attire. Chris, a longtime board member of CIS, and Dawn, an active volunteer and community philanthropist, are using the occasion to renew their vows to support the nonprofit’s goal of keeping students in school while surrounding them with a caring community. CIS of Nevada is proud to now serve more than 100,000 students inside 118 high-needs schools across the state, 82 of which are in Las Vegas and Henderson.

About Communities In Schools of Nevada

CIS places full-time and professionally trained site coordinators in schools across the state to support students who face barriers to their success—increasing the likelihood of students staying in school and graduating on time. The organization taps into a statewide network of more than 120 community nonprofits, partners, and agencies, literally bringing the community into the school to get students whatever they need to overcome the barriers they face that prevent them from achieving academically. From eyeglasses, dental care, health care, and professional counseling to food, school supplies, clothing, and even housing, CIS identifies student needs and finds a way to address them, closing the gaps they experience in their everyday lives. CIS’ long-term vision is for every child enrolled in a Title I or high-needs school to access a CIS site coordinator and their evidence-based model of Integrated Student Supports, otherwise known as wraparound services. The graduation rate for CIS case-managed high school seniors in Nevada for the 2022 -2023 school year was 95 percent.
