Helldorado Days Rodeo Children’s Coloring Contest now accepting entries Local students in grades K-6 encouraged to submit entries by Oct. 3

LAS VEGAS (Sept. 16, 2025) – The Helldorado Days Rodeo returns to downtown Las Vegas Nov. 7-8 at the CORE Arena at the Plaza Hotel & Casino, and as part of the event’s commitment to celebrating the history of Las Vegas and western culture, the Plaza is again sponsoring a children’s coloring contest. Local students in grades kindergarten through six are encouraged to download, print out, and hand color a scene that pays tribute to Nevada’s state animal, the bighorn sheep.

Prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded to students in each grade division (K-1, 2-3, and 4-6). Prizes will be from contest sponsors including Boulevard Trophy & Engraving, Las Vegas Natural History Museum, Mob Museum, Las Vegas Desert Dogs, National Atomic Testing Museum, Sky Zone Trampoline Parks, Flip N Out Xtreme, Henderson Silver Knights, and Vegas Knight Hawks. Winning artwork will also be on display on Nov. 7 at the rodeo, which is typically attended by thousands of fans.

Entries are submitted online by completing an entry form and uploading a photo or scan of the hand-colored page at: https://www.plazahotelcasino.com/entertainment/helldorado-days-rodeo/coloring-contest/. Submissions are due Friday, Oct. 3, and winners will be notified by Friday, Oct. 10.

The Helldorado Days Rodeo is fully sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association. The rodeo will feature bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, breakaway, and bareback riding, with prize purses totaling $40,000.

This year, the event will be bigger than ever before with the addition of a family-friendly festival before the rodeo excitement begins each night. The festival will include a petting zoo, a mechanical bull, carnival rides and games, line dancing, and more.

The Helldorado Days Rodeo also features related western-themed events, like mutton bustin (a sheep riding competition for future cowboys and cowgirls who are 4-10 years old and under 60 pounds), a Whiskerino contest, and a historical exhibit area.

General admission tickets for the Helldorado Rodeo are now on sale online for $10 per person (plus taxes). VIP tickets for $30 each (plus taxes) offer guaranteed seating as well as access to an exclusive bar and restrooms.
