Lifesize Statue of Oscar Goodman Unveiled

Oscar’s Dinner Series celebrates namesake steakhouse’s 10th anniversary with statue unveiling

LAS VEGAS, NEV (Jan. 6, 2022) – Former Las Vegas Mayor and mob attorney, Oscar B. Goodman will hold his ever-popular Oscar’s Dinner Series at Oscar’s Steakhouse at the Plaza Hotel & Casino to celebrate his namesake restaurant’s 10th anniversary on Thursday, Jan. 13 with cocktails in the lounge at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. in the iconic glass domed dining room overlooking the lights of Fremont Street.

In its ten years, Oscar’s steakhouse has amassed numerous accolades as a must-visit dining destination in Las Vegas, attracting tourists from around the world as well as locals who enjoy the restaurant’s relaxed ambiance, personal service, delicious menu, and vintage Vegas vibe.

Over the years, Goodman has continued to host his eponymous dinner series where he recalls his adventures as an attorney to alleged mobsters during a bygone era of Vegas history. His commitment to defending his clients garnered him recognition as one of the “15 Best Trial Lawyers in America” by the National Law Journal, and he went on to become an outspoken and highly popular mayor of Las Vegas, ultimately serving the maximum of twelve years with more than 80 percent of the vote every election.

The Jan. 13 dinner will include special festivities to celebrate the restaurant’s anniversary as well as the long-lasting leadership of Goodman in Las Vegas, including the unveiling of a life-sized statue of Oscar and a comedic roast with local entertainers.

During the cocktail hour, a life-sized bronze statue of Oscar Goodman entitled “Good Counsel” will be unveiled. The statue was created by master sculptor and acclaimed artist Brian Hanlon, who donated his time to the project and was inspired to honor Goodman for his important contributions to Las Vegas after attending a Dinner Series earlier this year. Hanlon has more than 550 permanent installations nationwide including several statues in Las Vegas, such as Jerry Tarkanian at the Thomas & Mack Center and most recently, former President Barack Obama at the Historic Westside Legacy Park.

Attendees will then enjoy a three-course plated steak or seafood dinner with handmade side dishes and dessert all paired with premium red and white wines, champagne, and the signature Oscar Goodman Martini, “the Hizzoner,” as Goodman recalls stories from his time as an attorney for alleged mobsters.

The Dinner Series will culminate with an unforgettable roast of Oscar by longtime Las Vegas celebrities including, Murray SawChuck, Zowie Bowie, Amazing Jonathan, and Frankie Scinta, as well as local entertainment columnist John Katsilometes.
