Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada Reunifies with   Northern Nevada Region of Make-A-Wish to Create

Las Vegas and Reno, NEV (Oct. 25, 2024) --- Just in time for Nevada Day, Make-A-Wish announces a statewide reunification of its Northern Nevada Region and Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada to create Make-A-Wish Nevada.  While the reunification was effective on September 1, 2024, today’s announcement is timed with Nevada Day to celebrate this newly formed statewide nonprofit that will serve children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses throughout the entire Silver State, including rural areas.

This week, the new Make-A-Wish Nevada sign was officially unveiled at The Wishing Place, headquarters of the organization in Las Vegas. The lighting ceremony was attended by board members, donors, staff, friends and family of the organization to mark this next new and exciting chapter of growth and impact.

According to Scott Rosenzweig, President and CEO, Make-A-Wish Nevada, this is a change that has been in the works for a long time that will not only grow the organization and its impact, but also provide for increased operating efficiencies. “At Make-A-Wish, we are in the business of providing prescriptions of hope, joy and resiliency to children and their families affected by serious illness,” said Rosenzweig. “It’s a job we don’t take lightly and to which we are deeply committed. We are thrilled to now expand our impact to every eligible child and family in the state, and I personally look forward to spending more time in Northern Nevada to meet donors, stakeholders, supporters and wish families connected to our amazing mission throughout the region.”

Make-A-Wish Nevada Board member Lou Borrego, who resides in Reno and has long been affiliated with the organization, will continue to head the Northern Nevada Regional Committee to help identify eligible children and fundraise for wish support in the region. But all administration and operations for Make-A-Wish Nevada will be provided by the nonprofit’s statewide office in Las Vegas.
