WHAT: Media is invited to cover a street hockey camp for boys and girls, ages 8-14 at Veteran’s Memorial Community Center on July 23. Approximately 60 children have been selected by the City of Las Vegas to participate in the camp that will be hosted by more than 25 2025 NHL draft prospects from all over the world who will be in town to participate in a pre-draft camp with NRX Hockey. Former Vegas Golden Knight Logan Thompson is expected to make an appearance.
The camp is made possible by a donation from Howard Hughes, developer of the master-planned community of Summerlin® and its urban core of Downtown Summerlin®, to the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE, a vehicle for the public to support and advance city programs that improve quality of life for Las Vegas residents, especially its most underserved citizens.
Youth sports is one of the Mayor’s Fund’s many focus areas, and according to Sallie Doebler, CEO of the Mayor’s Fund, “making opportunities like the street hockey camp accessible to kids who would otherwise not have access underscores the very essence of the Mayor’s Fund. We appreciate the partnership of Howard Hughes to make this fun, exciting and instructional camp a reality for dozens of local kids in our community.”
