StartUpNV sponsoring Techstars Startup Weekend, Aug. 2-4

LAS VEGAS (July 17, 2024) – StartUpNV, a nonprofit statewide incubator and accelerator for Nevada-based startups, is hosting the Las Vegas edition of Techstars Startup Weekend, Aug. 2-4 at City of Las Vegas's International Innovation Center at 300 S. Fourth St., in downtown Las Vegas.

Techstars Startup Weekend is the largest grassroots entrepreneurship program in the world. With events in 150-plus countries, it is a creative and collaborative three-day educational event where anyone can develop and pitch new startup ideas. Designed for both seasoned entrepreneurs and the startup-curious alike, it is open to all, regardless of experience, background, skill set / abilities, or whether the participant already has an idea to pitch.

Over the dynamic three days, aspiring entrepreneurs will experience startup life by learning the ins and outs of launching a startup. Participants will pitch ideas, team up with co-founders to prototype a product, get feedback from mentors, present to industry judges, celebrate with a party, and possibly win a grand prize for their idea.

Day 1 – Participants meet, form teams, and pitch ideas.
Day 2 – With mentorship from local industry experts, participants build a minimum viable product (a basic version of a product or service with enough features to attract early customers and validate the idea).
Day 3 – Teams complete work, give final pitch presentations, network, and celebrate.

“Participants learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship: pitching, business model creation, prototyping, designing, and market validation… all in a friendly and supportive team environment and in just one weekend,” summarized Jeff Saling, executive director of StartUpNV.

Registration for Techstars Startup Weekend Las Vegas is $40 per person and includes meals throughout the weekend. Registration closes July 31 and is available online at https://lvstartupweekend.com/ .

The winning team of Techstars Startup Weekend Las Vegas will receive a prize package including free product consulting workshops from Tech Edge Developers and $5,000 towards developing the team's minimum viable product. All Startup Weekend participants will have access to $300 in Google Cloud credits. Participants will also have access to the free Google tools, Google Trends and Market Finder. These tools let founders see if there is a growing demand for their product and in which markets.

Techstars Startup Weekend Las Vegas will feature prominent mentors including The Job Chick founder Amanda Goodall, author and serial entrepreneur Steve Goodall, and myVIP Program Director at PLAYSTUDIOS Pete Landi.
